Confidentiality

The collected raw data and the final report written by the BU IAC for each manufacturing company are considered confidential information. The BU IAC program recognizes that confidentiality of proprietary information obtained during the assessment is important to our clients. Great care is taken with data and other information gathered during the assessment process to ensure confidentiality. A copy of each final report is sent to the national program manager at Rutgers University only after removing reference to the location and name of the company.

Information relative to recommendations will be entered into a nationwide database, without reference to the company or its location, for use by other Industrial Assessment Centers, government agencies and schools interested or engaged in the energy assessment process. This information is included in a database is maintained by the Industrial Assessment Center field manager at Rutgers University and is available at their website at http://iac.rutgers.edu/database/. Each IAC is required to annually submit a list of clients served to the Department of Energy.

The BU IAC is not affiliated with the EPA or OSHA or any other regulatory agency. Client personnel will be informed of any issues that arise during the assessment process. Please contact the BU IAC if there is a specific concern regarding confidentiality.

All clients may be asked to allow the BU IAC to develop materials such as case studies and to use the firm's name in order to promote industrial efficiency. Written permission to do this will be needed from the clients. All proprietary manufacturing information will be strictly protected, and all clients will be given an opportunity to review any material that might identify their plant prior to the dissemination of that material.
