Deferral of Application or Admission

Applicants may defer their application or admitted students (who have not attended) may defer their admission for one consecutive semester (excluding summer and interim sessions) without reapplying.  If an applicant does not complete the application process for a second consecutive semester, the applicant must reapply by submitting a new Application for Graduate Admission and application fee to the Graduate School.  If an admitted student does not attend for a second consecutive semester after admission, the student must reapply to the Graduate School by submitting a new Application for Graduate Admission and application fee to the Graduate School.  Additional application materials may be required at the discretion of the Graduate School and the department.  Applicants or admitted students wishing to defer must notify the Graduate School prior to the start of the semester for which they are applying or admitted by using the Deferral of Application or Admission form.

Deferral to a semester othe than the one on your original application is not automatic.  Please note the following required items needed to complete the deferral process: 1) If you are an admitted student, review your acceptance letter and submit any items noted as a "contingency" of your admission.  If you are an applicant, complete your application by sumbitting all supporting documents.  2) International (F-1 visa) students must update and resubmit financial certification in accordance with current requirements as stated on the Financial Information and Certification Form.  3) For international (F-1 visa) students, if your TOEFL or IELTS test date is older then two years, a new TOEFL/IETS score is required.

Note to Admitted Students: Graduate School financial assistance is normally renewalbe within the university's right to change eligibility criteria and in accordance with the availability fo funds.  Renewal of financial assistance is not guarenteed.  Renewal of financial assistance will be provided with your new acceptance notification, if applicable.
