Fall 2009 Events

Once again the Smith Career Center will have their job search mini-conference called The BIG Event. ALL students are encouraged to attend the employer-led breakout sessions and keynote speaker in order to hone job/internship search skills. If your schedule allows, please come to a breakout session or the keynote speaker. Note the BIG Event-2 file (flyer) and the Student Handout for additional information about topics, presenters, etc.

Wednesday, September 9
Michel Student Center
4:00 to 4:45pm – first series of breakout sessions
5:00 to 5:45pm – second series of breakout sessions
5:45 to 6:30pm – mix and mingle/network with presenters (free food!)
6:30pm – Keynote speaker, The featured speaker will be Lindsey Pollak, Global Campus Spokesperson for LinkedIn, Career Contributor for ABC News on Campus, and best-selling author of the career advice book for college students and recent graduates, Getting from College to Career: 90 Things to Do Before You Join the Real World.

 

On the following day, employers will visit campus to work one-on-one with students during the Resume Critique Day. Again, ALL students should be encouraged to visit with the employers and learn about how to strengthen their resumes. As an ongoing opportunity, students may meet with our Employer in Residence. During the month of September on each Tuesday students can walk in and talk with an employer about general job search questions, resumes, job fair-related items, and interviewing. Dates, times, topics, etc. is available in the Employer in Residence file.
