Program Overview

The post-master’s certificate program for CMHC will allow prior students and students from surrounding areas who graduated from a CACREP approved masters level counseling program to further enhance their clinical skills in the areas of crisis debriefing, case conceptualization, psychopharmocology, psychopathology, and supervision.  This 12-hour certificate program will allow students to apply for a national certification called Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC). 

Accreditation

The post-master's certificate program for CMHC is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Program Requirements

The post-master’s certificate program for CMHC requires a minimum of 12 semester hours.  Please see the Graduate School Catalog for a detailed list of program requirements.

Estimated Time to Complete the Program

In most cases, students can reasonably expect to complete the program in one calendar year.  Students carrying a part-time course load have up to a maximum of five years to complete the program.

Admission Requirements

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements for admission to the Graduate School, individuals seeking admission to the Human Development Counseling program must also satisfactorily complete the Human Development Counseling program screening interview. All candidates for this certificate must hold a Master's degree in counseling from a CACREP approved program. Individuals holding a master's degree from a non-CACREP accredited program must be assessed by the ELH faculty.
