Program Overview
The program in Computer Information Systems is designed to prepare students for professional careers in the field of computing and information processing. CIS professionals manage and use technology to solve information-related problems, working with software professionals to ensure that these problems are solved. Bradley's program thus balances the need for advanced knowledge within an application area. Common application areas are business, manufacturing, and education.
Program Requirements
The CIS program has a minimum requirement of 36 semester hours. Every student must pass a written comprehensive examination that will be based on the core requirements for the program. In addition, each student must pass a programming examination which will be administered before the student has completed nine hours of graduate coursework. Students in the CIS program have the option of writing a master's thesis. Please see the Graduate Catalog for a complete discription of the program requirements.
Estimated Time to Complete the Program
Students carrying a full-time course load can reasonably complete the CIS program in two years. Students carrying a part-time course load have a maximum of five years to complete the program.

Admission Requirements
In addition to meeting the admission requirements of the Graduate School, individuals seeking admission to the CIS program should have completed one semester of calculus, one semester of calculus-based statistics, two semesters of accounting, one semester of finance, two semesters of programming and data structures in a structured or object-oriented programing language such as C/C++, and one semester of data communications.
