Biology • Cell & Molecular Biology • Environmental Science
Biology-Preprofessional • Medical Technology
The Biology and Biology-Teaching majors are designed to give the student a broader background in biology than the Preprofessional major. Secondary teacher candidates must take an additional 30 semester hours of professional education courses.
General Science:
BIO 123 Principles of Biology I (4hrs)
BIO 124 Principles of Biology II (4hrs)
BIO 223 Organismic Biology (5hrs)
BIO 224 Genetics (3hrs)
CHM 110 & 111 General Chemistry I (4hrs)
CHM 116 & 117 General Chemistry II (5hrs)
CHM 250 Organic Chemistry (4hrs)
CHM 351 Organic Chemistry II (4hrs)
PHY 107 General Physics I (4hrs)
PHY 108 General Physics II (4hrs)
MTH 115 Techniques of Calculus I (4hrs)
or
MTH 121 Unified Calculus I (4hrs)
It is highly recommended that the student also take MTH 116 Techniques of Calculus II or MTH 122 Unified Calculus II in addition to the math courses required for the major.
The student must choose one course from each of the categories listed below:
Cellular-Molecular Biology:
BIO 345 Radiation Biology (3hrs)

BIO 396 Immunology of Host Defense (3/4hrs)
Plant Biology:
BIO 324 Plant Diversity (4hrs)
BIO 334 Reproduction and Identification of Flowering Plants (4hrs)
Environmental Biology:
BIO 420 Ecosystems Ecology (4hrs)
BIO 460 Ecology (4hrs)
BIO 463 Plant Ecology (4hrs)
Behavioral and Evolutionary Biology:
BIO 319 Ethology (4hrs)
BIO 440 Evolution (3hrs)
Structural and Physiological Biology:
BIO 302 Inverterbrate Zoology (4hrs)
BIO 312 Developmental Biology (4hrs)
BIO 323 Comparative Anatomy (4hrs)
BIO 361 Microanatomy (4hrs)
BIO 381 Comparative Animal Physiology (3/4hrs)
BIO 384 Neurobiology (3/4hrs)
Biology Electives to Complete the Major:
