Study Abroad

Among the many programs that Bradley University offers to its biology students to expand their horizons is the chance to study abroad. Working in a different culture, gaining new insight from experts within the field of Biology, and having the opportunity to travel all combine to lend extreme excitement to the idea of studying abroad.

Within the Biology Department, the most extensive study abroad options exist in Denmark. Offering programs in four disciplines, marine biology & ecology; molecular biology & genetics; environmental biology; and medical practice & policy, the University of Denmark in Copenhagen is an ideal destination for biology students. Students are also encouraged to expand their study abroad experience by combining their biology course load with courses in psychology, bioethics, environmental studies, European history, culture, and politics.

Increasing the unique opportunities available in Copenhagen are the geography and culture of Denmark itself. Denmark has long been on the forefront of international research in biology.  Danish science has a long tradition of marine research, being surrounded by water and historically dependent on the sea. Access to the “ Medicon Valley ,” the region of Greater Copenhagen and Southern Sweden concentrating in biotechnological and pharmaceutical research, allows students to study in a region ranked third in Europe in terms of scientific output.

The development of the Biology programs in Copenhagen was facilitated in cooperation with Roskilde University, Department of Life Sciences and Chemistry, and the University of Copenhagen , Institute of Molecular Biology. Classes offered are taught in English for Danish and international students. These lecture-based programs include very strong hands-on components in the form of laboratory exercises and experiments and intensive fieldwork.

With semester or year transfer opportunities available, the chance to go to Denmark is one that Biology students can appreciate. As science and technology expand in our increasingly global society, Bradley University is offering its biology students some amazing educational opportunities in Denmark to increase the value of a Bradley education even more.
