Research and Teaching Interests
Professor Hermann received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at The Ohio State University in 2002. After teaching as a visiting professor at Kalamazoo College for a year, Professor Hermann taught for several years at Willamette University before joining the Bradley University Psychology Department in 2008. Most of his research focuses on self-evaluations are maintained and how they are related to interpersonal processes. He has become particularly interested in how people typically perceive others' evaluations (perceived esteem) and the degree to which many phenomena that are associated with self-esteem can be explained by these social evaluations. He is also conducts research on how to effectively communicate expectations between students and college instructors and how such communication affects classroom outcomes. Dr. Hermann currently teaches Principles of Psychology, Social Psychology, and Experimental Psychology.
