BRADLEY UNIVERSITY NEW SENATE 1998-1999

MINUTES

SPECIAL MEETING, MAY 6, 1998

 

  1. CALL TO ORDER

    The meeting was called to order at 4:25 P.M. in the Student Center Ballroom.

  2. ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Provost Liberty announced that John Francis would be retiring as of September 1, 1998.

  3. CALL FOR ITEMS TO BE ADDED TO THE AGENDA

    Finn Christensen requested reconsideration of the Mid-term grade motion. There was not a senator from the prevailing side to request a reconsideration.

    Conley Stutz, nonmember of the Senate, requested a count to determine if two-thirds of the New Senate were present. If so, the motion regarding a Handbook Editor would be reconsidered. There were not two-thirds of the members present.

  4. RATIFICATION OF MEMBERS TO COMMITTEE ON ELECTIONS Larry Aspin and Nina Collins well continue one more year. Suzanne Anderson moved that Robert Wolffe and Lisa Gardner be ratified for a two year term with Robert Wolffe as Chair. Fred Tayyari seconded the motion. The motion was passed.

    Nina Collins conducted the elections. Kelly Roos moved to nominate Kurt Field President. Alan Galsky seconded the motion. Nominations ceased. The motion passed.

    Peggy Carter moved to nominate Larry Aspin for Vice President. Alan Galsky seconded the motion. The motion passed.

    Fran Armmer moved to nominate Mary Jo Mays for secretary. Colleen Augustine seconded the motion. The motion passed.

    James Hansen moved to nominate Steve Heineman. Finn Christensen seconded the nomination. The motion passed.

    Sam Fan moved to nominate Fred Tayyari s a member at-large. The motion was seconded by John Francis. The motion passed.

    Kurt Field thanked the Senate for passing the Handbook. He thanked the Handbook Committee. He also recognized Neal Claussenís outstanding service since coming to Bradley in 1963.

    Larry Aspin recognized Sandra Perry for her service as President of the University Senate.

    The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 P.M.
