RE: Annual Report of the Senate Committee on Curriculum and Regulations
The Committee conducted its usual activities of reviewing additions, modifications, and deletions of courses.
There were major program modifications, additions and deletions as well as minor program modifications and additions in different colleges.
- The Standards and Procedures for Approval of Majors, Concentrations, and Minors were approved.
- A proposal to issue midterm grades to all undergraduate students enrolled in full-term courses was approved with an effective date of spring 1999.
- A change in terminology for the General Education program the term "basic skills" has been eliminated from the categories of English Composition, Mathematics, and Speech.
- General Education program - Approved a revision of the Mathematics category and using this as a model, the committee agreed that the subcommittee should continue the same process with the remaining categories.
- Addition of FCS 300 to the Social Forces category of General Education was approved.
- Academic Calendar for 2002-2003 was approved.
- An addition and a deletion to the Bradley University Directed Study Abroad program were approved.
- Approved a change in the name of the Department of Sociology to the Department of Sociology and Social Work.
