Re: Annual report of the activities of the Contractual Arrangements Committee

The committee devoted its attention to several items this past year including:

Several meetings with Provost Liberty on the multi-year faculty salary initiative.

The committee appreciates Interim President Anna and Provost Liberty’s efforts to document and address, with significant university resources, external salary inequities. We look forward to working with the Provost in the development and implementation of this program as a continuous activity.

The committee analyzed the results of the spring survey of the Bradley faculty and staff on TIAA-CREF.

The results again indicated that Bradley faculty and staff attach considerable importance to Bradley University improving its TIAA-CREF program so it is also on par with comparable institutions. Assuming the current faculty salary initiative lessens external salary inequities, Bradley’s noncompetitive TIAA-CREF program then remains the glaring shortcoming in an otherwise competitive compensation package. Furthermore, this is a problem that affects all members of the university community.

Reviewed the administration's language changes in the Faculty Handbook on medical insurance.

These were minor changes caused by changes in federal law.

Reviewed the administration's comprehensive document on motor vehicle and parking regulations at Bradley University.

Consulted with the administration on the new comprehensive policy on travel reimbursement.

Drafted modifications of the Faculty Handbook language on faculty travel.

Examined several issues raised by staff on the tuition remission and admissions of dependents to Bradley University. The committee has forwarded a series of recommendations to the administration.

Made plans for systematically eliciting faculty and staff health care needs in the 2000-2001 academic year.

Had preliminary discussions of pending agenda items, such as shared positions, compensation for online courses, and faculty titles.
