The Degree

Bradley University is one of only a handful of schools to offer a Marketing degree with a concentration in Professional Selling. Students in the Professional Sales Program develop the skills and experiences necessary for success in today's demanding sales environment. At Bradley, students are equipped with both the proper selling skills and an understanding of what it takes to build and manage a successful sales career. 

This program is administered through the Foster College of Business and Administration, which has earned accreditation by the AACSB International: The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB accreditation assures that the school is committed to continued improvement and quality in all areas of business.

Curriculum

The Professional Sales Concentration is specifically designed to prepare students majoring in Marketing at Bradley for highly desirable entry-level sales positions. Working in teams, these students serve as consultants to real business clients. Students in the program develop essential skills for the field, such as:

  • conducting marketing research studies
  • designing advertising plans
  • designing business and marketing plans
  • selling real products

Every student in the program is guaranteed at least two of these types of experiences before graduation.

Bradley’s Department of Marketing faculty members are also closely engaged with the Greater Peoria business community, and regional and national associations. Students in Bradley’s marketing program are exposed to a wide variety of faculty expertise. Some of the research interests of Bradley’s marketing faculty include:

  • consumer behavior
  • pricing
  • retail
  • marketing strategy

Opportunities at Bradley

Each year, the top two professional selling students represent Bradley at the National Collegiate Sales Competition held in Atlanta, Georgia. Teams of two contestants from 35 universities compete and representatives from 35 corporate sponsors act as judges and buyers for the contest. In 2006 the Bradley team was the National Champion. In addition to this achievement, both Bradley students gained placement in the individual categories. Stephanie Linder was awarded first place in the product category and Simon Saraf won second place overall.

The Marketing degree with a concentration in Professional Selling at Bradley prepares students for a wide variety of careers. Every year, more than 90 percent of Bradley marketing majors are placed in career-related jobs within six months of graduation. Recent employers include:
