Bradley’s Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts offers an undergraduate curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Interactive Media with a concentration in Animation and Visual Effects. The Interactive Media program maintains a strong focus on creative and conceptual problem-solving in the authoring of material for aspiring new-media professionals and a sound theoretical framework. Interactive Media is text, audio, video, illustration, photography and animation assembled in a non-linear, interactive format for delivery on the Internet, on digital media, or within informational kiosks and other presentation formats.
The Interactive Media Program works closely with the Departments of Art, Computer Science, and Theatre Arts to provide our students a well-rounded curriculum through interdisciplinary majors, minors, and coursework. Past cross-campus, student-faculty research projects have generated internationally recognized performances, exhibits, and interactive applications.
Interactive Media majors must complete all core coursework, additional required courses, and one area of concentration. Students select a concentration in one of the following areas; Animation and Visual Effects, Game Design, and Web and Application Design.
Web and Application Design Concentration
The Web and Application Design concentration focuses on user-based artistic design, interactive design, and human computer interactions in both websites and applications. This concentration enables students to sharpen their skills and abilities in designing visually appealing layouts, modern design techniques, and techniques using state-of-the-art equipment.
Rapidly changing technologies require students to learn both current techniques for traditional platforms and critical design skills for systems on emerging platforms.
