Bradley Technology Commercialization Center

Our Philosophy

The Bradley Technology Commercialization Center (BTCC) operates as a dynamic organization that remains flexible and adaptable to the needs of the entrepreneurial community throughout the region. BTCC is mission-driven and customer focused. In being customer focused, BTCC is cognizant that early incubation and support for technology developers (including researchers and inventors in both public and private sectors) increase technology commercialization opportunities; and that in exchange for the public support provided, the client is expected to provide a public benefit in terms of jobs created or in terms of repayment of financial support to the project.

In addition, while most clients need multi-disciplinary advisory teams and sustained support at each stage of the entrepreneur-product-company maturation process, these services are a function of progress towards commercialization (not an entitlement). BTCC will rigorously screen the project at several points in the client relationship to gauge progress (and risks); will provide progressively intensive (and more costly) BTCC services only at the critical junctures or stages of the process and will apply specific limits to the time and effort spent on each client.

BTCC recognizes that time to market is critical for new technologies and that emerging market opportunities may be associated with agriculture, mining, manufacturing, trade, communications, transportation, bio-medical or other sectors of the economy. With proper stewardship, including incentives to keep and grow that venture in the region, these technologies present opportunities for the emergence of local, technology-based industries.

BTCC focuses its resources on new, technology oriented, ventures and relies on existing entities for related services and assistance. BTCC refers current businesses that are developing new products and services through adoption of advanced technology to the local manufacturing extension center. BTCC defers to the regional economic development organization all industrial attraction and marketing of advanced technology businesses to the region. BTCC refers small enterprises - those that do not own or have licensed rights to unique technology - to the Small Business Development Center.
