David Markin Tennis Courts
Hours of Operation
Open starting March 28th, 2016 (or as weather permits) and closed the last day of Finals.
- Monday - Thursday: 11 AM - 9:00 PM
- Friday: 11 AM - 7:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 12 PM - 6 PM
Please note that the hut will only be staffed from 11am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm (7pm on Fridays) during the week. On the weekends it will be staffed during all open hours. If the hut is open, racquets and tennis balls can be checked out there. If the hut is not open, then racquets and balls can be checked out at the control desk inside the Markin Center.
These hours are subject to change based on the needs of the tennis team.
Open the first day after Spring Final Exams and closed the day before residence halls open.
- Monday - Friday, 11 AM to 8 PM
- Supervised hours will be from 11 AM to 1 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM.
- The courts will be open from 1 PM to 5 PM but the shack will be closed.
- Saturday & Sunday, 12 PM to 6 PM
Open the first day of classes, and closed the day before Thanksgiving
- Monday: 10 AM to 12 PM, 5 PM - 10 PM
- Tuesday: 10 AM to 10 PM
- Wednesday: 10 AM to 12 PM, 5 PM - 10 PM
- Thursday: 10 AM to 10 PM
- Friday: 10 AM to 12 PM, 5 PM - 10 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 12 PM - 6 PM
The David Marking Tennis Courts will be available and open for use to all Bradley University students, faculty, and staff. The courts are also available to Alumni who have purchased a Haussler Hall Alumni Pass and family members of the aforementioned who have purchased a Haussler Hall Family Pass.
Bradley University students, faculty and staff may sponsor one guest per visit. Guest privileges are not extended to alumni or family pass holders.
If all courts are being used and individuals are waiting for a court, playing time will be limited to one (1) hour. The Court Monitor will keep track of starting times and, if individuals are waiting, inform users when their time has elapsed.
The courts will also be available to non-Bradley individuals during the summer session, beginning the day after Spring Finals and Ending the day before the residence halls open for Fall Semester. Throughout the summer period, non-Bradley users will receive the same considerations as Bradley Students.
The Markin Tennis Courts will be available for reservation to Bradley students, faculty, staff, alumni, and family members holding appropriate user passes. During regular hours of operation, three courts will be available for reservation, and three courts will be available on first-come first-served basis. During the time when only three courts are available to users, all three courts will be available for reservation. Courts may be reserved for one-hour time slots. Individuals may reserve only one time slot per day. Individuals are limited to one hour of reserved court time per day. Reservations may be made in person at the tennis courts or by calling the tennis court reservation line. Reservations may be made up to one week in advance. If a court is not claimed within five minutes after the scheduled reservation time, the court will be made available to drop-in users.
Supervision by Court Monitor
The Intramural and Recreational Sports Department at Bradley University will schedule a Court Supervisor to be present at the Markin Tennis Courts at all times of operation, except the times being used by the Varsity Men's and Women's Tennis Teams. At that time, the tennis coach will be responsible for the supervision of the courts. The Court Supervisor will be responsible for unlocking and locking the entry gate and restroom facilities. The Court Supervisor will check all IDs and passes before allowing individuals to enter the court area. The Court Supervisor will be responsible for administering the reservation process. The Court Supervisor will also keep a log of starting times for all users. Court Supervisors should assist with court upkeep and identifying court maintenance issues. Through the use of a shift report, all usage counts and problems should be noted and documented. In emergency situations, the Court Supervisor should take the leadership role in obtaining help. The Bradley Tennis Courts may be closed due to weather conditions. Court conditions and weather conditions will be evaluated on a regular basis. If the court conditions improve, the courts may be reopened. Court information will be posted at the Court Monitor Station at the Marking Tennis Courts.
