ASCE student chapter is a segment of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The chapter helps keep the members abreast of and current with both the technical and professional advances taking place throughout all phases of civil engineering. It also benefits its members by enabling them to meet the top echelon of leaders who are responsible for such progress in this people-serving profession. These contacts are made through participation at Chapter meetings, Student Chapter Conferences, local ASCE Section and Branch meetings, and ASCE National Conventions.The Award Winning Bradley University Student Chapter of ASCE, one of more than 200 nationwide, participates in many activities annually. Excluding the summer months, the chapter holds a speaker meeting each month, inviting professionals to share their expertise with the members. In addition, each year the chapter participates in at least one community project. The most recent of which is the construction of a brand new playground for the Head Start Program of Peoria in cooperation with the AGC Student Chapter. ASCE has also been participating in the Adopt a Highway Program, where a students clean the area surrounding that particular section of highway. Also, each year, the chapter members participate in the Bridge Pal Program sponsored by the CEC Department. In order to raise money to participate in regional competitions, the Bradley Chapter holds FE Exam Review Sessions and Book Sale . It also sells beverages and candy from the student organization office which they share with AGC Student Chapter.Finally, in spring of each year, with the additional financial support of the department, this student group sends a delegation to participate in the Great Lakes Regional Conference and compete in both the Concrete Canoe Race and the Steel Bridge Competition. A joint banquet with the local branch of ASCE caps a busy year for this active organization. Membership in this organization is available to all students interested in or majoring in civil engineering at Bradley University . |
