Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do Academics suffer as a result of being in a sorority?
A: Actually, its just the opposite. The GPA required to be an active Alpha Chi Omega is a 2.6, which is 3 points higher than the GPA required to attend Bradley. The sorority can also be used to network for help on classes your daughter may be struggling with; chances are another sister has taken the class and can help your daughter succeed. Alpha Chi Omega also has study files located in our study room. These study files hold old versions of tests and notes from classes. Our girls use them to help know how to be prepared for their classes and for help when they are having trouble in a class.
Q: Will my daughter have time for a sorority?
A: Yes! While there are some mandatory events and meetings throughout the year, each member commits the amount of time they decide is right for them. Most activities are optional.
Q: Is it expensive to be a part of Alpha Chi Omega?
A: The cost of being in Alpha Chi Omega is comparable to any other Panhellenic sorority.
Q:Is there hazing?
A: Absolutely not! Alpha Chi Omega strictly forbids any form of hazing.
Q: Are members required to live in the sorority house?
A: Yes. The cost of living in house includes dues and meals and it is actually cheaper to live in house than out of house. Also, living in house helps bond the girls and even girls that were reluctant to live in house before have loved the experience!
Q: What types of activities are members involved in?
A: Alpha Chi Omega participates in intramural sports, volunteer work, and encourage the girls to be involved in other clubs and organizations. Also, Alpha Chi Omega has social events, such as exchanges with other sororities and fraternities and holds 4 dances a year. All of these activities are purely optional.
