Keeping Up With KD
September/October Edition
Letter From The President:
Welcome back to another exciting school year! This year will prove to be another great one! It is a great time to be a Kappa Delta on Bradley’s campus. In September we held formal recruitment and got an amazing new group of women! They are the future of our chapter and will bring it to the top. They are currently going through their new member program in which they learn the history, philanthropies, and opportunities Kappa Delta has to offer them, both in their collegiate and alumni years.
We have many exciting events planned for this semester, including a girl scouts event, White Rose Bowl, socials, and many sisterhood events. These events always turn out to be a great time, while most still serve a good cause. Our annual magazine sale will be starting in late October, so keep an eye out for that.
I had the opportunity to attend Kappa Delta’s National Leadership Conference this summer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was an amazing time to meet Kappa Delta’s from across the country. Our national council works hard day in and day out to make our collegiate years the best of our lives. They recognize how busy we are with academics, Kappa Delta, and other activities, so they implemented a new chapter structure. It’s called Chapter Choice and we can choose how we want to spend our meeting time. We can accomplish an event during our chapter time, so that we don’t need to spend another day on it. This clears up more time during the week to work on academics.
Thank you again for your continual support to both our chapter and your daughter. We can not begin to express how appreciative we are of it.
Sincerely,
Danielle McDonald

Philanthropies:
White Rose Bowl
White Rose Bowl took place on Sunday October 15th. This event consists of a flag football championship. Teams of 7-12 people pay a $35 entrance fee to play in the event. Teams compete in same sex games for the championship. This year’s winner are Sigma Nu and Pi Beta Phi. We raised a total of $560 for the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
Girl Scouts/National Women’s Friendship Day
National Women’s Friendship Day is a holiday that takes place on the third Sunday of September. This holiday exists to remind us of the special friendships women share. This year’s NWFD was September 17th, the same day as our Bid Day. Flowers and letters were sent to all of the sororities on campus. Our Girl Scout event this semester will also encompass the NWFD theme.
Our event will take place on Sunday, October 22nd. Girl Scouts from the Peoria area will be visiting the Kappa Delta house. During the event, the girl scouts will make crafts to give to local women in nursing homes, have an ice cream social, and also have an awards ceremony. The Girl Scouts will make friends with scouts in other troops and Kappa Deltas.
Social:
Blaze
On September 30th our first date party of the semester, Blaze, occurred. This dance was held at Timberlake. The outdoor event included a barn dance and campfire. All of the members had a blast!
