Minutes: Summarized and approved.
Notes:
- We are meeting in the Student Center cafeteria tonight, since all the rooms in the basement are set up for the job fair tomorrow. (Thank you, Lyz, for letting us into the cafeteria!)
- As such, we need to hurry the meeting up so we can be out by 10:45. To this end, David reads the minutes from last week to facilitate things, while the Comm Officer scribbles like mad.
- Carl arrives at 10:16.
Committee Reports:
Recruitment and Relations Committee:
- We should make posters to put up around campus, to remind people that we'll watch the premiere of Enterprise in Neumiller Hall next week at 7 pm.
- Ryan works in duplicating, so he can have "electric yellow" posters made up for us.
- Details about the posters will be worked out later between David and Ryan.
- People will be needed on Monday or so to help put the posters up in the dorms and on campus.
- "One Small Step" will be the Voyager repeat shown next week after Enterprise. We should extend our reservation in Neumiller in case we want to watch it, too.
- The meeting next week will be at 10 pm. We could have it in Neumiller, but again we'd have to extend our current reservation in order to do so. If not, it'll be in the Student Center, Room 5 (hopefully...).
Movie Committee:
- We exist. That's about it.
- Results of an informal straw vote indicate that Sunday afternoon would be a good time to view movies.
- Email movie suggestions to Julie.
T-Shirt Committee:
- The motion by the Nagus to put Mets logos on the t-shirts is quickly defeated.
No Report Committee:
- Five weird words are uttered.
- No report.
Officers' Reports:
Communications Officer:
- The minutes are up.
- {Did you notice that approximately 38.1% of the people at tonight's meeting had their last names start with either K or W? Isn't that weird?}
Constable:
- "The best diplomat I know is a fully-loaded phaser bank!" --Scotty, "A Taste of Armageddon"
- Everything's under control.
Grand Nagus:
- The current balance is $400.66, minus 1 embezzled penny.
- Apparently, we still have a copy account with duplicating. The amount in it is unknown at this time.
- Since next week's meeting will fall under Yom Kippur, the Nagus requests that nobody bring food next week, lest he go crazy.
- By request of the Nagus, it is noted that Amy says hi, and "Yeeeipong!"
Chief of Operations:
- There is a lot of new Enterprise stuff up at the website, including various Enterprise links.
- You can check it out at http://enterprise.psiphi.org. (Go look at it! It's nifty!)
First Officer:
Captain:
- The Constable sings "Letters."
- Mail:
- A memo from the SABRC, telling us how to go about getting money {Isn't that what David is for? :-)}
- The Facility Request Form has been turned in, so we have an office in Sisson Hall for another semester. Yay!
- Neumiller Lecture Hall has been reserved for the Enterprise premiere next Wednesday from 6:45 to 9:15. We'll try to get it extended to 10:00, so we can also watch the Voyager repeat.
- The Captain still needs to reserve/obtain/beg/borrow/steal a projector for Wednesday, without which the whole idea pretty much falls apart.
- Room 5 in the Student Center basement has been reserved for Psi Phi meetings for the rest of the semester, tonight's fiasco notwithstanding.
Scifi News:
- Steven Spielberg is interested in directing the third (and only the third) Harry Potter movie, if anyone asks him.
- The Phantom Menace DVD is due out on October 16, featuring seven scenes that were "deleted" from the movie. (Actually, they were "added" to the DVD, since they were not finished in time for the movie.)
- The DVD is priced at $23 on amazon.com. [shameless plug](Buy it there through our cool website, www.psiphi.org!)[/shameless plug]
- Buffy repeats will begin airing Monday nights at 7 on FX.
- The Star Trek edition of Exposure will rerun Friday night at 1 am on the Sci Fi Channel.
- New info on Enterprise can be found at www.startrek.com, including 6 video interviews, several character bios, and a timeline.
- The motion is made that David should be interviewed, because David is cool and wise.
- Chris J. reports that www.chivas.com is running an online charity auction from October 11-21, where you can win lunch with Patrick Stewart and a behind-the-scenes tour of the set of Star Trek X. Note: Alien currency not accepted.
- Lyz reports that Marion Zimmer Bradley and Deborah Ross have written a new Darkover novel, the first in the Clingfire trilogy.
- The book is called "The Fall of Neskaya." Lyz says to "be excited."
- Anti-Joel reports that a recent article at theonion.com was entitled "Sci-Fi Fans Argue The Better Of Two As-Yet-Unreleased Films," referring to the upcoming Harry Potter and Fellowship of the Ring movies. {I don't get it...}
- Chris K. reports that this Friday's edition of The Scout will contain a Star Trek transportation reference.
- Julie mentions that a letter to the editor she wrote regarding the poor promotion of the Student Senate elections was published in The Scout last week.
- "Mutant X," a ripoff of X-Men, may be making its way to FOX.
- The new season of Angel begins next Monday at 8 pm on the WB.
- Ryan reports that FX will be showing a 36-episode marathon of M.A.S.H. on Sunday.
- Fred reports that the Anime Club will watch the Cyberpunk anime "Ghost in a Shell" this Friday.
- Ryan is phasered by the Constable due to an unforgivable comment about Baywatch.
- Carl announces a party at Theta Xi Saturday at 10 pm.
