Notes:
- It is noted that Marisa is not yet here. A round of applause ensues.
- The Captain feels that the applause is uncalled for, whereupon the following exchange takes place:
- Anti-Joel: "You applauded, too."
- Captain: "No I didn't."
- Anti-Joel: "You *wanted* to."
Committee Reports:
Recruitment and Relations Committee:
- No report.
- Marisa arrives at 10:07.
- Katie arrives at 10:09.
- Our First Officer is back! Yay!
T-Shirt Committee:
- The motion is made to put "Better geek than greek" somewhere on the shirt. Motion passes 12-4, with 4 abstentions and 1 respectful abstention. So, it's going on the shirt, folks.
- Psi Phi West at Arizona State has apparently approved our proposed t-shirt design, which has remained unchanged from last week, so we may as well formally approve it as well.
- Motion to accept the proposed design passes 15-0, with 6 abstentions. {And that's -- final!}
- The Captain issues an executive order that there will be no voting to remove the power of issuing executive orders from the Captain's position.
- A sign-up sheet for ordering t-shirts is passed around.
Movie Committee:
- There will theoretically be a movie on November 18. Details will be forthcoming shortly.
Quiz Bowl Committee:
- The club will continue to meet Mondays at 9 in the Student Center.
- Marisa missed last week's meeting, but Chris K. was able to attend.
- The club is looking forward to competing, but they need more people, so go check it out!
Versailles Committee:
Shack-a-Thon Committee:
- The Shack-a-Thon is still on for next week, and we need people to sit in the shack.
- The motion to hold next week's meeting by our shack on Olin quad passes 14-2, with 1 existential abstention.
- Laura arrives at 10:26.
No Report Committee:
- Anti-Joel defers the delivery of tonight's report to Landon.
- Landon proceeds to read a long treatise, containing several references to unicorns and clans, which pertains to Legend of the 5 Rings.
- No report.
Officers' Reports:
Communications Officer:
- The minutes are {fnord} up.
- This week's LotR TCG card is "The Ruling Ring."
- David asks if there will be an "Elvish Presley" card. The Constable offers to proxy-bap Marisa for this, but we decide to be nice for now.
- cj arrives at 10:31, "x time."
Constable:
- First, another honorary quote from Dr. Jones in HIS 326:
- "This week in military history, we discussed Iowa taking its place at the head of the United States. The President would wear a crown made out of beer cans, we'd stick a corn cob on the flag, and pigs would be the national animal."
- "Commander, there is no careful way to question a Klingon." --Odo, "Visionary"
- Everything's under control.
Grand Nagus:
- The Nagus announces he is no longer a business major: "I'm only signed up for nine hours, no business, no gen-eds. I'm just a student taking random classes."
- The current balance is $385.99.
- David adds $96.28 to the treasury from amazon.com, bringing the new total to $484.27.
- The Constable beats the Nagus senseless.
Chief of Operations:
- "The website is good. Long live the website."
First Officer:
- "Hello. I'm back."
- All absences of the First Officer from past meetings this semester previously given the status of "conspicuous" are hereby changed to "excused," due to documented illness of the First Officer.
Captain:
- No mail this week. Nuts!
- "Anti-Letters" is sung.
- We are donating $20.01 to Habitat for Humanity so we can build our shack next week, bringing our current total to $464.26.
New Business:
- The SBAM now exists in its entirety. (Ask Anti-Joel or Bryce about this one.)
Scifi News:
- Two books now out are the reprint of New Frontier: Excalibur: Restoration, and NF #12, "Being Human." Both books are written by Peter David.
- David has many covers this week:
- The Battle of Betazed, by Susan Kearney and Charlotte Douglas
- Immortal Coil, by Jeffrey Lang
- The paperback reprint of Eugenics Wars, volume 1, by Greg Cox
- The Tick (the new live-action show) begins tomorrow on FOX.
- The new season of the X-Files begins Sunday on FOX, along with three other non sci-fi related shows, which will not be mentioned here. *
- {* But they will be mentioned here: The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Malcolm in the Middle.}
- The second teaser for Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, with a length of approximately 2 minutes, will be shown before the movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," thus giving us a reason to go see the latter.
- Another reason to go see HPatSS (or at least buy the soundtrack) is that John Williams wrote the score. He is currently working on the score for Attack of the Clones.
- A recently filmed episode of "The Weakest Link" had a Star Trek theme, and will air later this month, possibly on November 26.
- Talks have started on making another X-Files movie. Currently in early discussion stages, such a movie would likely star David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and would be written as a stand-alone.
- Chris A. has printouts of sample figurines for the Lord of the Rings miniature game.
- It is noted that a trailer for SW: Episode 2 will be available to be viewed online soon. You must have a copy of the Episode 1 DVD and access to the Internet to view it.
- Ryan offers the first review of the ST:TMP DVD: "It kicks [item deleted from minutes for security reasons]!"
- He also notes that the trailers for the movie included on the DVD reek with the mephitic odor of the 1970's.
Adjournment: 10:51 (eugenics)(rhombitruncated icosidodecahedron)pm
