The Markin Family Student Recreation Center will be open for use according to the following schedule. The Department of Campus Recreation will be responsible for setting and advertising the Hours of Operation. During University breaks and holidays the Hours of Operation for the Markin Family Student Recreation Center will change. Those hours will be posted at the Markin Family Student Recreation Center, and also at: www.bradley.edu/campusrec

The Markin Family Student Recreation Center will be scheduled and managed by the Department of Campus Recreation. Scheduled intramural sports events will represent the primary use of the complex. The Department of Campus Recreation will post a schedule of events daily in the Markin Family Student Recreation Center. Scheduled events and those coordinated through the Department of Campus Recreation will have precedence over informal activities.
The Bradley University Markin Family Student Recreation Center will be available to all Bradley University students, faculty, and staff,.as well as family members of students, faculty, and staff who have obtained a Markin Center Family Pass. Bradley University students, faculty and staff must show their Bradley identification card to access the Markin Center.
Beginning January 1, 2009, faculty and staff who want to continue using the Markin Center will be assessed $10 a month/$120 a year. Markin Center users are eligible for a $100 annual rebate if they go through a wellness checkup. Therefore, the out-of-pocket cost should be $20 annually, about the cost of the administrative paperwork.
Each Bradley student or employee
may obtain a Markin Center Family Pass for their spouse and dependents under
the age of 25. A registration form must be completed in the Campus
Recreation Office, Room 120 of the Markin Center. Children under the
age of 16, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Access to
the Markin Family Student Recreation Center for Family Pass Holders will
be limited to Saturday, Sunday, and holidays between 9:00am – 6:00pm.
Upon completing the registration form at the Markin Center, each eligible
family member will receive a Markin Center pass.
A guest pass will be issued to a person who enters the facility with a Bradley student, faculty, or staff member. Family Pass Holders are not allowed the privilege of bringing guests to the Markin Center.
Bradley students, faculty, staff, and Markin Center Pass holders are able to rent a locker in the Markin Center. Lockers can be rented through the Campus Recreation Office, Room 120 in the Markin Center.
A graduated fee scale will be in effect for monthly, half-year and year-long locker rentals.

Various recreational spaces in the Markin Family Student Recreation Center can be reserved by Bradley University students, faculty, staff, and student organizations for university events. A Facility Request Form may be picked up in the Campus Recreation Office, Markin Center Room 120. Facility Request Forms must be submitted no less than two weeks prior to the event date to be considered for approval. Rental Fees will be charged in accordance with the Markin Family Student Recreation Center Fee Schedule. The Markin Family Student Recreation Center will not be available for rental to non-Bradley groups.
Two Racquetball Courts in which both can be used for Walleyball are available in the Markin Center. Racquetball Courts can be reserved one day in advance by signing up in person at the Control Desk in the Main Lobby of the Markin Center. Reserved Courts will only be held for 15 minutes past reservation time.
The Markin Center will be managed by the Department of Campus Recreation. In many cases, Bradley students will be responsible for the supervision of activity spaces in the Markin Center. A title and brief description of duties of these student employment opportunities has been included below.
Facility Attendants are responsible
for delivering quality guest service. This includes answering patron
questions both in person and over the phone, equipment check-out, maintaining
the cleanliness of the facility and many other service-related duties.
They are responsible for monitoring entrance into the Markin Center using
RecTrac software. Facility Attendants will work at the Control Desk,
the Fitness Floor, and serve as Roaming Supervisors.
Building supervisors are responsible for the daily operations of the Markin Center while on shift. This includes the supervision of all shift staff members, cleanliness of facility, set-up/tear-down of all equipment for events and programs, as well as the opening and closing of the facility.
Life Guards are responsible for the supervision of the Markin Center Pool. This includes insuring the safety of all participants and users of the Markin Center Pool, maintaining cleanliness of the pool area, as well as opening and closing the pool area.
Climbing Wall Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of the Markin Center Climbing Wall and Bouldering Wall. This includes inspecting the wall, supervising climbers, training climbers, checking out equipment, maintaining equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the climbing wall area, as well as opening and closing the climbing wall area.
