Summer Enrichment ProgramBradley University is pleased to offer a residential summer program opportunity to a limited number of high school students who will be entering their junior or senior years. Beginning on June 15, 2008, you can have an exciting learning experience by participating in one our programs: Get in the Game in the Leadership Enrichment Camp or Nursing. You will experience and learn new concepts and technologies which will be taught by experts in their fields. At the same time, you will have fun while gaining insight into college life. During the week, you will stay in one of Bradley’s Residence Halls and, in addition to the academic components, participate in fun group events. The extracurricular activities will take advantage of both campus and community venues. Applications are accepted on a first come basis and the deadline for applications are May 15, 2008. (The Leadership Program is full)Get in the GameLeadership Enrichment CampIf leaders are made not born, how do I become one? This week-long program focuses on the development of individual leadership abilities, leadership within terms, and leadership within the community in order to provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience. participants will have the opportunity to engage in community and corporate leadership projects, gain insight from professionals, and discover how their leadership abilities can benefit them in the future. Each participant will work with a Bradley University student leader who will serve as a peer mentor to provide a source of guidance, aid in the creation and achievement of personal goals, and help cultivate leadership growth and development. "Get in the Game!" Leadership Enrichment Camp participants will capitalize on the strengths of their personal leadership styles, create personal goals and plans to achieve those goals, understand how leaders influence the community, and engage in strategic leadership development. Students attending this program will enhance their existing leadership skills and gail new tools to help them become more involved in their schools, communities, and in preparation for college. This unique experience will truly help participants take their leadership skills to the next level. (The Nursing Program is full.)NursingNursing is a profession with many challenging roles for both men and women. Nursing involves direct patient care, administration, teaching and research in a wide variety of hospitals, clinics and other community settings. There is an increasing demand for highly educated and trained nurses. This program will provide an opportunity to explore various nursing roles and to experience first hand how nursing students learn. Participants will observe and interact with nurses in practice settings, such as critical care, rehabilitation, obstetrical, medical, surgical, mental health units, outpatient surgery centers, and community clinics. The Bradley nursing laboratory will be used to practice taking vital signs, starting IV's, nursing assessment techniques, and performing nursing skills and procedure.
