Summer Camp VI June 15th - June 20th, 2008
BEST/STEPS Summer Camp Class of 2007
Bradley University College of Engineering and Technology is pleased to announce that the 2008 STEPS Camp (Science Technology Engineering Preview Summer Camp) will be held at Bradley University the week of June 15-June 20, 2008. The camp is sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation and Bradley University College of Engineering and Technology. Bradley University will host over 80 students from the Peoria area in a six day immersion into the exciting world of engineering and technology. STEPS gives students hands-on experience with high-tech equipment and processes in creating a product.
Students will be selected from the four Peoria Public District #150 high schools, the central Illinois high schools which currently offer the Project Lead the Way Pre-engineering curriculum, and eighth grade graduates of the Caterpillar Destination Technology program and the Gateway to Technology programs.
Students will use math, science and engineering processes to design and build a rocket that will be launched from a football field yard line through the goal posts. They will use mathematics and science to predict the performance of their rocket and then prove their prediction with the first and only launch of the rocket.
Camp visits may be arranged throughout the week and guests are invited to attend the launch on Friday evening, June 20th at 6:00 p.m. at the Richwoods Stadium, 6301 N. University.
