STUDENT
RESOURCES - Frequently Asked Questions
We have provided
some of the most common questions that new students ask when looking at
the engineering field of study.
WHAT
IS ENGINEERING?
Engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical principles
to practical ends such as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient
and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems. Engineers
design bridges, medical equipment, circuit boards, and many other things
used in every day life. Engineers also develop new ways of doing things.
WHAT
ARE MY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES?
Engineers have many job opportunities to choose from, and they are not
some of the jobs you would typically expect from engineering graduates.
Many engineers end up choosing from jobs in research, design, analysis,
testing, development, sales and business. Some graduates even end up in
accounting departments of major corporations with just an engineering
degree.
