Itinerary

Here are highlights of our daily schedule

Day 1 - Monday, September 8
• Depart from Peoria, and drive to Moline for a delicious buffet lunch at the Riverhouse.
• Drive to West Branch, Iowa, and tour the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum, Hoover Home, and church.
• After our tours, we’ll drive to Des Moines, check into our hotel, and enjoy a special welcome dinner downtown.

Day 2 - Tuesday, September 9
• Depart Des Moines for Topeka, Kansas, with a stop in Kansas City. We’ll enjoy a
hearty buffet lunch at the Freighthouse, one of Jack Stack’s popular BBQ restaurants.
• After Lunch, we’ll visit the National World War I Museum.
• After our tour, we’ll drive to our Topeka hotel and check in for two nights. Dinner
on your own in Topeka.

Day 3 - Wednesday, September 10
• Using Topeka as our home base, we’ll make a day trip to Abilene, Kansas, to tour
the sites honoring President Dwight D. Eisenhower. We’ll see the Visitors Center,
Ike’s boyhood home, the Place of Meditation (chapel), and the Presidential
Museum.
• In late afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel and enjoy a group dinner in Topeka.

Day 4 - Thursday, September 11
• We’ll depart Topeka for Independence, Missouri, to visit the Harry S.Truman Museum.We’ll leave the grounds to lunch in town and then continue our exploration of the exhibits.
• In mid-afternoon, we’ll depart for Columbia, Missouri, where we will enjoy a
nice dinner and spend the night.

Day 5 - Friday, September 12
• From Columbia, we’ll make our way to Springfield, Illinois, and have lunch before
entering the Lincoln Presidential Museum. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the two
video presentations, the permanent exhibits, and a special exhibit, "Packaging
Presidents - Two Centuries of Campaigns and Candidates."
• In the late afternoon, we will depart for home, arriving in Peoria around 5:30 p.m.
