Winterim will feature four Commerce Unseen trips. These excursions, designed to take you into unseen and sometimees overlooked businesses within our own community, enable us to enrich the understanding we have our our own back yard!

University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP)

Advanced Medical Transport

Date: Tuesday, January 20 (full) and Tuesday, January 27
Cost: $22
Special Time: 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Join us for a tour of the WMBD 31/Fox 43 studios. Meet the WMBD 31 Morning Team, and learn about what goes on behind the scenes at a television station. You will also get to see a live taping of WMBD 31 News at Noon. Our host will be Operations and Marketing Director, Tim Beisel.

The tour will consist of an in-depth look at how MUIR takes an order and processes it through their production shop. We will begin with a brief history of the company and then will tour the shop similar to the way that a production job travels through the manufacturing process. We will have an in-depth look at pre-press operations as well as the manufacturing process of silk screen printing following up with the distribution methods used to satisfy the client's demand.

University of Illlinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP)

This is a repeat of an interesting trip to the U of I College of Medicine to learn about the Rager Lab which is a simulation training facility where health care students practice on full-size adult, pediatric, and baby simulators. The training provides a controlled environment for students to practice diagnosing and treating conditions without putting human patients at risk. We will also tour their library and cancer biology labs.

Advanced Medical Transport
Date: Thursday, January 29 (full) and Tuesday, February 3
Cost: $22

Join us for a tour of this private, not-for-profit company that serves the people of 34 communities throughout Central Illinois. During our tour, we will learn about the state-of-the art equipment that dispatches the ambulances, take a close-up look inside an ambulance, tour one of the most high-tech classrooms in Central Illinois, and learn how AMT's paramedics provide medical services in a non-traditional healthcare environment.
