Check Cashing

Bradley employees and students may cash personal checks and payroll checks with a valid BU QuickCard.  Certain limits and restrictions apply.  Please refer to check cashing policies for more specifics.

Student Holding Accounts

Bradley students may open a non-interest bearing holding account.  Deposits and withdrawals can be made at the cashier windows.  Please refer to student holding account policies for more specifics.

Stamp Purchases

United States and International postage stamps are available for purchase.  U.S. postcards are also available for purchase.

Parking Permit Purchases

Parking permits for faculty, staff, and students may be purchased at the cashier windows.  Please see Parking Office, Motor Vehicle and Parking Regulations for more specifics.

Other Services

Payments for BU tuition charges, Health Center fees, and other miscellaneous fees are accepted at the cashier windows.  VISA, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted.

Student Check Cashing

  1. You must present your BU QuickCard to cash a check.
  2. Cashier will cash a check from the student’s parent(s) and checks drawn on the student’s personal bank account.  Such checks must contain the student’s name, BU ID number, local address, and phone number. 
  3. Checks drawn on the student’s personal bank account must be made payable to the student and endorsed by the student.
  4. The following limits are placed on check cashing per day for students:
    • $150 maximum on one personal check.
    • $200 maximum on one non-BU payroll check
    • $400 maximum on BU payroll checks.
  5. No two party checks between students will be cashed.
  6. A charge of $25 will be applied to all checks returned as non-sufficient funds.
  7. All non-sufficient fund checks not made good within 60 days will be submitted to a collection agency.  Any collection fees are the responsibility of the individual who presented the check for cash.

Employee Check Cashing

  1. You must present your BU QuickCard to cash a check.
  2. Checks drawn on the employee’s personal bank account must be made payable to the employee and endorsed by the employee.
  3. A $250 limit is placed on check cashing per day for personal checks.
  4. A charge of $25 will be applied to all checks returned as non-sufficient funds.
  5. All non-sufficient fund checks not made good within 60 days will be submitted to a collection agency.  Any collection fees are the responsibility of the individual who presented the check for cash.

Student Holding Accounts

  1. You must present your BU QuickCard when opening a student holding account or transacting business involving your student holding account.
  2. Student holding accounts can be opened for any amount.
  3. A check from the student’s parent(s) and/or checks drawn on the student’s personal bank account may be used to open an account or used for deposits to the account. Payroll checks or other business checks are also accepted.
  4. Funds deposited by credit card must have a 24 hour waiting period before withdrawals can be made from the account.
  5. Daily withdrawal amount is $150.  Any request over this amount will be approved on individual basis.
  6. Receipts for all account transactions should be verified for accuracy and retained for record keeping purposes.  Any discrepancies should be brought to the cashiers’ attention.
  7. Deposits made by mail should include the student’s name, BU ID number, and the notation “Student Holding Account”.  Deposits should be mailed to Bradley University, 1501 W. Bradley Avenue, Peoria, IL  61625, Attn: Cashiers.
