ACADEMIC EXPLORATON PROGRAM

The Academic Exploration Program at Bradley University is a uniquely designed program that assists students in identifying their academic interests, skill sets, and career options that reflect personal values and aspirations.

The Academic Exploration Program provides students with the support, guidance, and tools to determine an academic major. Students receive personal attention to ensure their academic success.

This comprehensive program provides a weekly seminar class, individualized academic advising, an academic curriculum fair, and a job shadow opportunity! Recognizing that each student has special talents and goals, the professional academic advisors guide students through the decision-making process of selecting an academic major.

AEP 100 "The Student Planning Seminar"

This course is designed specifically to facilitate student self assessment, career research, and the decision making process of selecting a major. The course objectives are achieved through the following:

* Personality Inventories & Career Testing

* Small group and one-on-one discussions

* Exploring web and published Bradley University resources

* Major & Minor options

* Guest faculty speakers

* Academic success tips

* Decision-making exercises

Footsteps

Students have the opportunity to job shadow a professional in the Peoria area. The "Footsteps" Program provides students with first-hand experience in a professional career. Ninety percent of the students who participated in "Footsteps" enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the daily responsibilities of that career.

Academic Advising

Students in the Academic Exploration Program receive personalized one-on-one advisement during their selection process from professional advisors. Beginning at Summer Orientation, students are assisted by faculty and staff in course selection. Advisement continues throughout a student's college career.

Majors & Minors Fair (M&M Fair)

Since 1999, the M&M Fair has provided students with the opportunity to gather information about every academic major and minor offered at the University. Faculty and alumni meet with students interested in that major or minor to share different perspectives on career options.
