The Peoria Art Guild presents Digital Photography '96, a juried exhibition to be held April 26 - May 25, 1996.

The entry deadline is February 1, 1996.

Entrants may print out and use the form at the end of this file as their official entry.

This is the third year that the Peoria Art Guild and Bradley University have sponsored this juried competition to explore current work being created in this new medium. The images selected for the exhibition will be shown in both the "physical space" of the gallery, and in the "virtual space" of the World Wide Web.

Any two-dimensional image that had its origin in a lens- imaging camera device and was brought to completion within a computer is eligible. This would includeimages originally captured by conventional (film) cameras, video cameras, still-video cameras, digital cameras, and 3D scanners.

Jurors are: Shelly Katz, Contributing Photographer, TIME MAGAZINE and Director of Electronic Projects for the National Press Photographers Association, and Christie Fergeson Cirone, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, Illinois Central College, Peoria, Illinois.

Slide Submission

Artists may submit a maximum of three entries for the non- refundable fee of $15. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Peoria Art Guild. Entries must be received by February 1, 1996. Mail or deliver to: Digital Photography '96, The Peoria Art Guild, 1831 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61603. Slides of accepted entries will be retained by the Peoria Art Guild as documentation for the exhibit. All slides must be standard 2x2 35mm color transparencies in a cardboard or plastic mount. No glass mounts will be accepted. Each slide must be labeled in the manner shown below, with the information on the slide matching that on the entry form.

Entry Rules

The Peoria Art Guild is a nonprofit, member-supported organization dedicated to the advancement of Fine Arts and Fine Crafts in the community. A 40% commission, subtracted from the sales price which you indicate for your artwork, will be retained by the Peoria Art Guild from all sales transacted from this exhibit.

Jurying

Jurying will be by slide submission only. Since this exhibition occupies both "gallery-space" and "virtual-space," entrants are required to submit 35mm slides for jurying. The jurying is conducted from slides to ensure that images are judged as the artists intend, rather than from compressed or lower-resolution transmitted files. The jurors will review all slides submitted and determine which entries will be included in the exhibition. Artists whose works are accepted from the slide jurying process will be notified by mail with further shipping information and labeling material.

An "artist's statement," a technical explanation, a self-portrait, and a sound file will be required of accepted entrants. These additional submissions will create the multimedia artist/viewer interactions of the WEB. These can be interpreted within a wide-range of creative possibilities, as evidenced by the statement, portraits, and sound files in the current exhibition. Information regarding format and delivery of these files will be sent with the acceptance letter.

The jurors reserve the right to withhold from the exhibition works which do not fulfill the expectations as indicated by the slides. Prize awards will be determined by the jurors after viewing of the exhibited work. All accepted work must remain for the duration of the exhibition.

Calendar of Deadlines

February 1 Deadline for postmark of slide entries. February 12 Jurying of slides. February 16 Acceptance notification mailed. Slides of rejected entries returned to artists. March 8 - 22 Work accepted for exhibition must be received during these dates. April 26 Exhibition opens. May 25 Exhibition closes.
