My work is the result of the American way of life. I grew up in North Dakota. As a kid I raced motorcycles, watched cartoons, hunted, and fished. I played football, baseball, hockey, and nailed cars with snowballs. In high school I drove my 1969 Dodge Super Bee with a 383 Magnum, and Fats in the back. I listened to music, and shot shows with a 11O camera. From there I planned on being a "Rock and Roll" photographer, and a Cobra Helicopter armaments technician.
Three days after high school graduation I was in the Army. I enlisted for four years. I spent three of them in Europe working on Cobra. and Apache helicopters. I lived in Frankfurt Germany. I have been to Austria, Belgium, England, France, Holland, Switzerland, and Newfoundland. I shot forty-some shows in Germany, and planned the marketing of those pictures for when I got back to the States, Europe had a great deal of influence on my style of art.
I came to Denver to meet with my mentor, Mark Sink. Three days after my arrival in Denver, we flew to New York City for a one-month stay. In New York City I got to experience the surrealistic, pop culture overload. I marketed my portfolio there, and planned to stay in Denver to pursue my photography.
In Denver I shot for "Angles," an entertainment stock photo agency. I also shot for Pit magazine. It was there that I met my business partners, Doug Graham and Chuck Rains. Together we started "Brainstorm Graphics," a creative agency powerhouse. That's when I took my photography to the digital age,
Americans have seen more art in more forms than any nation in the world.
Americans are the pop culture connoisseurs. That constant visual barrage has tuned my eye into what is visually captivating and to what is old news. Now more than ever, my work is constantly evolving.
