Ching-Fang Chiang
Light is the source of our existence. Light makes all things possible, and its vitality inspires me to utilize it in my images. Therefore photography is my major media because it reproduces streams of light completely and faithfully. My love of light extends to other forces of nature that I can not control.
The invention of digitized photography gives photographers options which help them transform an object into something other than originally seen. Working with several different photographs on one image is an exciting experience to me. Making things look as though they belong together instead of objects deliberately juxtaposed is the way I would like my digital photographic images to be.
Some personal icons have been brought into my art work to represent my spiritual beliefs, anxieties and fears. Some kinds of metaphorical ceremonial objects have also appeared in my art work. All things under the sun have their own regularity. Rhythm is another metaphor to emphasize the power of nature. I use rhythm as the pulse of life to my art. These symbolic languages and indirect messages are not always interpretable and are only important for what I believe them to mean and what viewers consider them to be. They can release the most complex comprehensions and adapt them to use.
The purpose of my work is not only intended to express what I think but to question ambiguous areas and search for answers during the act of creating. The creative moment guides me onto a mysterious plateau, in which I have gradually learned numerous ways to approach and to view the essence of light and life.
