I create my images on a PC using three separate programs: Photoshop, RIO, and 3D Studio. The image in this exhibition uses only the first two programs. I scan images and objects with a flatbed scanner and a slide scanner. I edit these images in Photoshop, typically retaining the visual integrity of the individual sources. I use RIO's resolution independent, object-oriented design as a faster and more flexible program within which to compose my images and construct meaning from combinations rather than using the computer to distort or transform the visual information beyond simple color adjustments. My compositions undergo substantial transformations because I can quickly experiment with different page formats, and different images with a minimum of difficulty. "Alarmist" contains four image sources:
1. computer text
2. photographs taken by me: the male's figures, the second-story room's wall, and the tiny houses
3. photographs I appropriated: the woman's images
4. the remaining images are all objects I scanned using a flat-bed scanner.
