Danza by Mario Madriz

"Danza"
Technical Explanation

"Danza" is an essay, a sequence of photographs originated on black and white film. I made prints of the five images selected on photographic paper and scanned into digital media. Each image calibrated individually to achieve the same density, size, resolution and sharpness.

I cropped the expressive portions of each image and clipped them in a plain canvas in Aldus Photoshop. I chose a non-rectangular pattern to enhance the rhythm of the sequence. Once the images fit together I used the rubber stamp to smooth transitional areas between one image and other. The original black and white composition was changed to RGB mode, and with the curve levels, I created a sepia tone.

To express more movement sensation I used the smudge tool to diffuse and extend the clear bands of the fans. The smudge tool helped also to break the radical cut of the black border and to add yellowish tone to the border streaks.

To print I use a Tektronix Phaser 300 that allows printing in almost any media. I prefer to print on watercolor papers. I work in Macintosh media.
