For the piece "Self Defeat," I started with the image of a friend with his head bound by garden twine. This image was manipulated using Adobe Photoshop. Since I was using version 2.5 I had to use a combination of selective rubber-stamping to the previous version of the image and varying opacity of pasted selections. The combination of the head and the scanned text were then further manipulated with KPT Texture Explorer and the smudge tool. To add a subtle otherworldliness to the image, I lastly altered the aspect ratio to be wider than normal.
