The image is comprised of multiple layers of different images acquired from one of two input devices: a flat-bed scanner or from Kodak's Photo CD. The textures, shadows, and torn-paper effect are all created digitally. The coloration is a preset duotone curve, which is later converted over to either RGB or LAB and output to a Kodak Premiere film writer on 4X5 film and printed traditionally.
Each element is brought into a new layer of the master Photoshop file, resized accordingly, and a "relationship" is established between the new and existing layers using the layer commands.
