Faculty

The MBA faculty are diverse, high-quality, teaching-oriented professionals who were nominated by their departments to teach at the graduate level. Classes are taught by the professors themselves--not by teaching assistants. Virtually all of the MBA faculty have earned doctorates and have published substantial research. Many are also active in consulting. They are available to answer individual questions and have evening office hours for your convenience. 

The faculty teach courses using a variety of instructional techniques. Problems, case analyses, research and opinion papers, small group discussions, and computer applications are used to expand and supplement the traditional lecture method. The emphasis is on understanding and applying functional theory. Identification of problems and opportunities, analytical techniques, and evaluation of outcomes are essential elements of the courses. Report writing, use of current technology, and oral presentation skills are emphasized, in response to needs identified by business. Classes contain about 25-30 students and may break into small groups for projects and presentations.

Dr. Donna Hill is Chair and Associate Professor of Marketing. She has a Ph.D. from Indiana University. She provides the following perspecitives on marketing and the Bradley MBA program: 

"As competition increases and deregulation proceeds in certain industries, new areas of marketing opportunities have developed: relationship marketing, satisfaction/loyalty marketing, and after marketing to retain/maintain the customer. This has filtered into goods marketing from services marketing. All employees are involved in marketing, no matter what their position. Thus managers for the 21st century need to know what marketing is and how to handle the process in order to serve society.

Bradley MBA students are topnotch people in management positions who learn much from one another as well as the professors. The classes are small, enhancing discussion. The courses involve group projects, analysis and teams - an interaction experience - which is a combination hard to find in many programs."

 

Dr. Charles Stoner is the Robert A. McCord Professor of Executive Management Development at the Foster College of Business Administration. He holds a MBA and DBA from Florida State University.

Author or co-author of four textbooks and more than 50 referred articles and papers, his research has appeared in leading business research, management, and occupational psychology journals. Dr. Stoner's fourth textbook, co-authored with colleagues Dr. Fred Fry and Dr. Larry Weinzimmer, looks at strategic planning issues facing small emerging businesses. 

Dr. Stoner teaches organizational behavior, management theory, and leadership and interpersonal behavior. He consults with businesses and organizations throughout central Illinois and has worked with Bradley's Leadership Development Center since 1985.

 

Dr. Simon Petravick, Associate Professor of Accounting,  is a C.P.A. with four years of Big 5 public accounting experience and six years of corporate work experience. Dr. Petravick has involved undergraduate and graduate students in many of his research projects. Some of his recent projects include investigations of how companies use the Internet for financial reporting and what types of companies are likely to outsource their internal audit functions. Has also developed educational case studies for integrating the Internet into his classes. Dr. Petravick believes that "since accounting is a professional degree, on-the-job training is nearly as important as formal education." Bradley's program provides great flexibility and an opportunity for graduate students to custom-tailor their programs of study to their own individual career needs.
