Seminar - T2 - Complete - IP Multicast Operation, Protocols, and Troubleshooting - This tutorial will provide participants with training in protocols and architecture needed to support IP multicast in campus and regional networks. Both multicast on the LAN and WAN (interdomain) will be covered. The emphasis will be on gaining an understanding of multicast functionality and protocol operation/interaction. A structured approach to troubleshooting multicast problems will also be introduced, examples/case studies will be given, and screen shots from Juniper and Cisco routers will be included. Some gotchas, best common practices, references, and tools will be discussed. This is an intermediate-level class. Participants should have a good grasp of general network, ethernet, and unicast routing principles.
