Distance Learning has been a service of Bradley University for over
20 years. Courses have been delivered via fixed microwave, satellite,
and video tape. We currently offer service in classroom studio -
Bradley 104.
The Continuing Education Division coordinates the enrollment of
students in distant-site courses. Most courses today are delivered
on video tape, but a growing number of classes are experimenting
with compressed-video delivery.
Compressed Video
Compressed video allows live, two-way interactive audio and video
delivery through telephone lines. Academic programs that wish to
offer coursework through compressed video should contact Continuing
Education to arrange for service. They can also coordinate using
compressed video to bring in a guest speaker for a class, or meet
with colleagues.
The ATS Director of TV handles scheduling and operation of the classroom
studios and the compressed-video systems.
There are charges to use compressed video to cover the cost of the
telephone lines, and technician time. Charges vary depending upon
usage, but average $40-50 per hour.
Distance Learning also includes satellite downlinking of teleconferences,
seminars, and coursework. We can arrange facilities to accomodate
most size classes or groups.
