Configuring Mac OS X 10.3/10.4 to 802.1x Secure Wireless

Configuring your iBook or PowerBook to the Aeris wireless network is a snap.
You will be creating a new 802.1X configuration in the Internet Connection application and making a few changes.

If you are running Mac OS X 10.2 or earlier, please setup wireless using the Guest OR Unsecure instructions on the left.
Not sure of the version? Click the Blue Apple in the top left corner of your screen. Choose "About this Mac" to see what version you have. |
Begin Configuration
Open Applications | |

From the File menu, click
New 802.1x Connection...

Click the 802.1X Lock and choose Edit Configurations...from the Configuration drop-down.
802.1X Configuration
Modify the configuration window with the following information:
Network Port - Airport
User Name - <Leave Blank>
Password - <Leave Blank>
Wireless Network - Aeris
Authentication - PEAP (Remove checks from all other protocols.)
Click OK.
Verify the Network Port and Network.
Close window.
Connecting to Aeris:
Click the wireless icon from the system menu and select Aeris.
In a moment, enter your username and password in the login window.
You must accept the Authentication certificate to access Aeris (firsrt time only)
At any time, you can check the connection status by opening the 802.1x connection by choosing "Open Internet Connect" in the wireless networking icon at the top of the screen.
