Safety in the Laboratory

Memorize the locations of and learn how to use the eyewashes, safety showers, and fire extinguishers.

Clean up chemical spills promptly and carefully.  Notify the instructor of all accidents as soon as possible.

Make sure that the caps get put back on the reagent bottles.

Check that the hoods are on.  If they don't appear to be working, notify the instructor.  Reagents which belong in the hoods must stay in the hoods.

Be on the lookout for cracked, broken, or otherwise defective or dangerous equipment.
