Accidents
First-Aid Kits
Each laboratory contains a first-aid kit
stocked with the following: bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, burn/first aid
cream, scissors, tape, and etc. Know where this kit is stored in your
lab. The first-aid kits should also contain latex gloves and a biohazard
bag to dispose of any paper toweling used to clean up blood. The gloves
are provided for your safety to guard against blood born pathogens. Areas
where blood was spilled should be cleaned with bleach.
Student health center is located in Heitz
Hall (x-2700) if follow up seems necessary. If injury is to that lab
assistant, and follow-up is necessary, contact campus security (x-2000) since an
accident report must be filed and treatment will be with company doctor and
covered under Workman's Compensation.
