Electronic business communication is perhaps one of the most important and influential aspects of technology today.  Technology has made it easier to contact other employees in the same office, and even around the world.  Computers and software have revolutionized the business office.  Programs have made it simple for businesses, small companies and large corporations, to keep track of any information that passes through the business, whether it is from a secretary or the CEO.  Technology in the business world has had positive and negative effects.  It has made any business transaction easier to keep track of.  On the downside, computers can crash and information can be lost.  Information may even be transmitted to those that should not have access to it.

Today’s society is dependent upon electronic communication.  Electronic communication has become a part of every aspect of society.  School and the workplace have been changed because of advanced technology.  Electronic communication has also modified some aspects of society.  The adaptations on society’s part have been both positive and negative.

Electronic communication has also dramatically changed schooling.  Today, teachers expect assignments to be typed and the Internet has become a reliable source for research papers.  Grade schools as well as colleges have added classes to teach students how to use different forms of electronic communication.  Classes as general as typing to more technical classes that teach different computer programs are some examples of this.  Some schools have online classes now.  Positive aspects of this is that it makes some aspects of schooling easier, but there is always a risk of computer crashes, information loss, and the fact that some forms of electronic communication are not being taught effectively.

Lastly, there are numerous trends in electronic communication.  Instead of calling a person on a normal phone, you hear “page me,” “fax me,” or “e-mail me.”  E-mail has changed society, it has brought people closer together because it makes it easier to keep in touch with people we may not normally keep in touch with.  .

Cellular phones and pagers have become as common as bubblegum.  It is not uncommon to see people talking on a cellular phone while shopping, eating in restaurants or while watching a movie in a theater.  The Internet has changed everything, from the way we find information to the way that we apply for jobs.  Electronic communication has had many benefits as well as many downsides.  The simplicity, speed, efficiency and the convenience of electronic communication have far outweighed the problems electronic communication carries.  Society must be careful though, one day someone may pull the plug and society will be turned off
