Human Values Literature Courses
1. The following courses will meet the University General Education HL requirement:
ENG 115 INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE Elements, techniques, and forms of fiction, drama, and poetry.
ENG 121 EARLY EUROPEAN WRITERS Representative works by significant writers of the Classical, Medieval, and Renaissance periods.
ENG 122 LATER EUROPEAN WRITERS Representative works by significant writers of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
ENG 124 AMERICAN WRITERS Representative works by significant writers from early periods to the present.
ENG 127 BRITISH WRITERS Representative works by significant writers from the Middle Ages to the present.
ENG 129 INTRODUCTION TO AFRICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE Introduction to African American literature from the 1700's to the present.
ENG 190 WOMEN IN LITERATURE Images of women as portrayed in lierature. Readings selected from established classics, as well as more recent works by and about women. Women of diverse personalities meeting particular problems in particular environments and times.
2. English majors will be advised to earn Gen Ed HL credit by taking something other than 124 and 127.
Non Western Civ Courses
ENG 381 LITERATURE OF ASIA Study of the cultural traditions of Asia through selected literary classics. Prerequisite: 3 hrs. of college- level literature or consent of instructor.
ENG 130 NATIVE AMERICAN LITERATURE Introduction to Native American literatures from the 1700s to the present.
