Dear Prospective Student:

We are very pleased that you are considering Bradley University and our department to study mathematics or actuarial science. You will find that we have an energetic and devoted faculty who are keenly interested in teaching and doing mathematics. Our upper division classes are small and we strive to foster a departmental atmosphere which is highly supportive of learning.

For students interested in a classical mathematics program we offer a very strong degree which will prepare students well for either the job market or further graduate studies. If you are interested in teaching at the secondary level, we have a program which combines the course offerings in our Department of Teacher Education with those in our department that will provide you with a strong background to begin your teaching career. Bradley has two programs in actuarial science. The one in our department is aimed especially at students who are more interested in the mathematical aspects of the profession while also being interested in the business aspects.

Our department is housed on the fourth floor of the newly remodeled Bradley Hall in the center of campus. Our new classrooms feature comfortable surroundings and many of the classrooms are equipped to use multimedia facilities and have internet access.

One of the recent additions to our program is a senior project experience in which a student, in cooperation with a faculty member, selects a problem or project on which to work. Over the course of a year progress is made culminating in both an oral and written presentation. Students have found this a valuable and enjoyable learning experience and we hope you will as well.
