The Bradley Social Work Program
was accredited by the Council on Social Work Education in June 2002 and
received retroactive accreditation to the 1999-2000 academic year. Our graduates are licensable in Our curriculum is firmly based on
a liberal arts foundation. All of our social work courses are taught by
professional social workers in social welfare, social work practice with
individuals, groups, and organizations, social work topics, and community
internships and field seminars. The requirements for our major also include
selected sociology and psychology courses. For those who are interested, a
second major in another field may also be possible along with the social work
major. Many of our graduates have gone on
to graduate school. Many have also been successfully employed in community
social services, such as health care, child welfare, family services, aging,
and corrections agencies. Students who enter our program
receive considerable personal and individual attention. A social work faculty
advisor is assigned to each student to advise about university and program
requirements and to assist in planning course schedules for each semester.
The advisor also follows the student's progress and is available to discuss
course work, career options, graduate schools, internships, or other concerns
about university life. There are a variety of student
activities and organizations available at Bradley, including a student social
service association (B.U.S.S.),
and several honor societies. These provide opportunities to meet other
students, pursue special interests, and participate in service projects. We intend to stay in contact with
our majors even after they graduate. We will want to hear how their career or
graduate studies are going, and will want to keep them informed about
developments in our program and achievements of their classmates. |
