PUBLIC PROGRAMS Participating in a public program exposes members of your company to a varied group of people from different backgrounds. It offers wide-ranging viewpoints and experiences. In this setting, participants gain insight into the experiences of others and often share and compare their own experience, creating an atmosphere of learning and networking. Open enrollment programs offer a sense of individual anonymity for participants. In this environment they can frankly and openly discuss " back-home" issues, and comfortably build the confidence needed for leadership. Public programs also provide a change from the "in-house" climate. Participants have the distance and the change of setting that enables them to better assess the issues in their organizations. They also get deeper understanding of their own behavioral traits through feedback from program peers.
New supervisors and project leaders (3-5 years of experience) develop leadership skills to set and communicate a clear direction, to motivate, to provide coaching and feedback, and to help others in their organizations succeed. Middle to upper level managers and experienced supervisors learn to increase their ability to unify diverse people to work effectively as a team toward a common purpose in varied, often difficult settings. |
