Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center - Manufacturing Specialist
The Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC), located on the Bradley University campus is seeking candidates for the position of Manufacturing Specialist. The Manufacturing Specialist provides direct consultation and technical assistance to manufacturers to help them optimize company performance.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Provide direct consultation to manufacturers within their own area of expertise
- Help prepare proposals and sales presentations
- Design, implement, and conduct technical training programs
- Provide in-depth needs assessments and benchmarking services to manufacturers
- Manage project engagements.
- Develop and manage subcontractors.
- Participate on IMEC's service development and process improvement teams
A Bachelor's degree is required, Master’s degree preferred. An emphasis in Engineering, Technology, Marketing, or Operations Management is preferred. Candidates for the position must have 5 or more years of experience working with manufacturing companies with a career progression that includes management responsibility. Manufacturing, engineering, technology, consulting, and/or business management experience preferred.
Particular consideration will be given to candidates with experience in ISO9000, AS9100, TS16949, ISO17025, ISO14001, and ISO50001. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to diagnose company needs and effectively communicate value to all levels of the company, from production personnel to top management. Additional experience desired in providing services in one or more of the following areas: strategic marketing, information technology, strategic and operational planning, lean manufacturing & waste reduction, plant layout, process optimization, product development, Six Sigma, and supply chain development.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to synthesize and present highly technical data succinctly to nontechnical business executives, and interact effectively with all levels of a manufacturing organization.
Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Work at field office locations and some overnight travel is required. Candidates must be capable of accessing facilities which are not ADA accessible.
