Instructional Technology and Media Services - Academic Support Specialist

Bradley University invites applications for the position of Academic Support Specialist in the department of Instructional Technology and Media Services (ITMS) of Information Resources & Technology. The Academic Support Specialist is responsible for the supervision and delivery of diverse technology support services for campus academic and administrative events.

The mission of Instructional Technology and Media Services is to provide the academic and administrative units of Bradley University with effective and appealing media based services to make possible innovative and qualitative academic programs and effective communications support.

The Academic Support Specialist is a full time professional staff position and reports to the Executive Director - Instructional Technology, and Media Services. The Executive Director- ITMS oversees a team of six professional and support staff that deliver a broad base of technology services for event support; design and maintain technology in the classroom; provide technology training; support campus wide use of videoconferencing; and respond to the need for a variety of audio, video, graphic and print based production.

This position provides direct support in the use of information technology services and tools for faculty and administrative staff; assists in the development and delivery of technology training; installs technology in campus locations and resolves trouble issues; researches and implements new media resources for use in courses and other projects.  The incumbent will successfully manage and deliver effective IP videoconferences utilizing multiple platforms in support of individual, course, departmental and off campus requests; provide direct support of technology based services: mediated classrooms, videoconferencing, lecture capture, audio/video streaming, and new media resources; assist with classroom technology training to empower faculty management of technologies supporting teaching and learning; creatively respond to users audio and video needs; collaboratively interact with ITMS and other IRT/campus staff to research, test, and apply new media resources and their positive impact on the campus teaching and learning culture; and assist in the direct support of technology for university events.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate: application of multi-platform IP video/web conference services – standards based, WebEx, Skype, etc.; knowledge of lecture capture and associated streaming capabilities; skilled video production, non-linear editing and rich media file conversion;  experience in producing and implementing audio and video resources for web based delivery; proficient support of classroom technology needs and development and delivery of effective training documentation.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant instructional/information technology, broadcast, or multimedia field is required or equivalent work experience. Experience in providing IP videoconferencing, and audio/video services; significant interest in multimedia and online technologies; knowledge and experience in implementing new media services; PC/Macintosh operating knowledge; technical aptitude; self-directed and highly motivated with effective communication skills is necessary.  The ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds and ability ascend and descend ladders are necessary.
