Music - Music Director and Conductor of the Bradley Symphony Orchestra
The Music Department is seeking a music director and conductor for the Bradley Symphony Orchestra. The successful candidate will audition performers, rehearse and conduct the orchestra in two concerts each semester; assist with the Music Department’s annual Concerto/Aria competition; administer the high school string festival, assume responsibility for preparation of concert programs; and work with other music faculty to achieve musical and curricular goals for the ensemble.
Applicants should have a MM or DMA, preferably in conducting, and professional and/or university experience. We seek a candidate who has a love for conducting, teaching, and public performance, a dedication to the successful education of our students and a professional approach to every aspect of the position.
This is an affiliate (part-time) faculty position that begins August 22, 2012. The orchestra rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:15 to 6:00 pm. Other teaching assignments may be possible depending upon departmental needs and the successful candidates’ background.
The Department of Music is comprised of over 100 music majors with nearly 400 students in band, choir, and orchestra. Led by 11 full-time and 18 adjunct faculty, majors are offered in Music Education, Music Performance, Composition, Music Business and Music with another major or as a Minor.
