POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position Title           Administrative Support          

Department             Pre-Law Center & Pre-Health Advising Center

Reports to                Director of the Pre-Law Center & Director of Pre-Health Advising Center

Appointment            Part-time - 20 hours per week (12 month position)

Open/Close Date     Thursday, April 11 – Thursday, April 25, 2013

Application Hours   Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 1-4 pm; Thursday and Friday, 9-11 am

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide administrative support to the Directors of the Pre-Law and Pre-Health Advising Centers; receive telephone communications, correspondence, and students/employees/visitors; respond to questions and requests; monitor and respond to emails promptly; maintain paper and electronic department files data entry; greet and interact with students, faculty, staff, professional organizations and legal and healthcare community; update and maintain website and Facebook pages; assist in managing Directors’ calendars, correspondence, files and telephone communications; prepare materials for various department activities; perform word processing and database management activities; maintain office supplies; process and distribute mail; perform other related duties as assigned.

In order to meet the needs of the University, the University retains the right to assign duties and requirements to employees as well as determine and change starting times, quitting times and shifts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years office experience that demonstrates ability to work independently; Associate degree, business/technical school or on-the-job-training preferred (training examples: in-house professional development, computer or software classes, technical training); superior verbal, written, computer and interpersonal skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to demonstrate sensitivity for cultural differences; strong planning and organizational skills; positive work ethic; high level of integrity and a commitment to respecting and maintaining strict confidentiality; proficiency with word processing, data entry and spreadsheet and database management activities; ability to coordinate/manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and on deadline and ability to type 45 wpm. 

Employment with Bradley University is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.  Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust.  Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
